I live here in Italy about 2 hours north of the Ducati plant, which I plan
on visiting early next year. From what the folks that own Ducati's say is
that they are reliable no more than any other motorcycle, but the recurring
theme has been that just normal maintenance is rather pricey. Before I bought
I would check out what kind of maintenance is required for that particular
motorcycle. I will say that the Carabinieri use Moto Guzzi's because of
the reliability.
