S Eagle sez: "Has anyone else had similar peeling or
flaking problems"

Yup, they has good QC there. My left primary case and rear rocker box top
has the chrome flaking off. I always figured it was from the gas dripping
from the cracked rear tank mount weld. Now I need a new chrome battery box
cover. The gas was not nice to the chrome.

On the tank crack, HD did warrantee the tank somewhat. I had to send in the
emblems from the sides. They sent me a new painted tank to match the former
one. Cost me $100 + labor to install.
