Re: Performance=form over functionFrom: ken durstine <kend@srv.net> Next Article (by Date): Re: Help, Gas Line Problem John , This whole thread got started because some Buell (BG at for you Jim) rider from california asserted that the reason HD builds low powered bikes was because of money. The intent of my reply was that HD builds the bikes they do because that's the way the want to build them, emphasis on style (form) as opposed to function ( performance and handling). The comment about price above MSRP was to make a point that the market would apparently be willing to pay the extra couple of hundred bucks it might cost to improve the function (performance) of the bike. oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo John said The people that buy Buells are HD people and buy it because it is powered by HD ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Maybe some, maybe not. John I'm not a HD fan, I bought a sportster anyway. I like the big torquey engine in a small frame. And the sportster still looks like a motorcycle ought to, doesn't have a bunch spangley crap hanging off it, doesn't have a a bunch of extra tin tacked on it for style points. Doesn't have all the cool stuff wrapped in plastic. Most of the big HDs and for that matter, the Japanese"cruiser "styled bikes with the forward controls and dished fenders are well, ugly in my book. ( You don't have to read my book) oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo .John says I don't care what you do to your bike, it is always form over function! ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo So how's the guy in the street gonna know about the racetech cartridge emulators in the front fork, Hows he gonna tell a HQ wild head and a hot cam. These have nothing to do with form(style) and everything with function (performance). ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo John said >(And for the new guys, IMO the V-rod proves this >point in spades ) The V-rod is HDs first attempt at performance. oooooooooooooooooooooooo what about the original sportys.......
