I've seen at least one post recently which speaks of a
combination of hotter cams, S1 heads, S&S carbs, and
SE slip-on mufflers. It seems this is about like putting
together a $10,000 stereo system with $100 speakers. From
what I've read from several sources, the SE slip-ons are
okay for anything with 883 sized valves, but don't really
even flow well enough for a stock 1200 with its larger
valves, stock cam, and CV carb. I'd be willing to bet
that stock 1200 with nothing more than an SE air filter,
SuperTrapp (or Bartels 2-stage) 2:1 exhaust, and appropriate
rejetting, would at least equal any combination of parts
trying to push gas through the restrictive SE slip-ons.
