I am considering putting down some green on a Sporty. This would be
my first Harley, have been riding rice for a number of years. I have some
friends who ride HD's and they are really trying to talk me out of the 883,
however, they have never owned (or even ridden) one. One of them
does have a 1200C. My wife is a full time student, so cash is in pretty
short supply. My question is: Are 883 owners generally disappointed in
the amount of power? I'm aware of the usual mods, i.e. pipes, breather,
etc., also, I'm about 6 foot and 200 lbs. Should I wait until I can afford the
1200? If I decide to buy the 883, how reliable are the kits to bore it out?
Is it hard to find a good shop to do some of the work? That's probably
enough questions for now, TIA for any help.

Steve
