In a dialogue on the HDTC88 list, Lee recently explained that he had sold
his
bike (I assume he meant his Ultra, don't know about his Ironheads) and
given
up riding about a year-and-a-half ago. That would be about the time he
left
this list, wouldn't it?
The reason it made such an impression on me, is that I've been struggling a
little with the same personal safety/longevity issues that Lee says drove
his
decision. I'd like the administrators of my modest lifetime pension asking
themselves, "When is this geezer Compton going to f#*king DIE already?" I
feel horrible about the prospect of letting them off the hook early, or
laying
in an assited living facility paralyzed from the wanker down. >>

Ah hell, sign one of those daymn DNR papers, enjoy yourself and hope
that if you do crash they'll honor your DNR and let you die happy instead
of as a veggie,,,,,,,
Or you could be like my buddy Joe who has gone from havin fun to benin
a 60 yr. actin like he's 90 with a clicker in one hand and his favorite
blankie in the other as he wastes his life away safe on the couch watchin tv
with his dog..........
Enjoy the ride,,,,, When I go I hope it will be quick, unexpected,
and on my bike :-) Or ya never know, maybe the ocean will get me. They
have a stupid law here that from Sept. 25 to May 25 you have to wear a life
jacket in a Kayak or canoe,,,,,,,, We know it's just to make it easier for them
to find the body cause the water's cold enough to kill ya,,,,,,,, Frig
them, they can look for my body :-)
Have a lived one,
Jimmy
Un Peu Fou !
At 62 I'm gettin old, but thank God and Willie G not growin up enough
to wither away waitin to die. My bud Watsie at 86 had about his 4th or 5th
stroke last year,,,,,they all called me instead of 911, Yes, that was stupid
of them. I got there he was semi consious half on the floor and the
couch,,,,,,, man I forgot how heavy dead weight is,,,,,, I finally got him
on the
couch sittin up and he came back to life little by little as we waited for the
ambulance I called. The old buzzard didn't want to to to the hopsital, he
said he just wanted to sit there and die at home...... I told him no friggin
way would I let that happen,,,,, friggin die miserable sittin on a couch
with the tv on. Took me over an hour to finally get him to go to the hospital
and he only went cause I said I'd go stay, and if he wanted to skip out in
an hour or so I promised I'd get him out. I told him if he had the same
stroke out fishin or sittin on a rock in the woods huntin I would honor
his wish
and let him die there doing somethin he enjoyed,,,,,,,, but to go on a couch
miserable,,, no way,,
Guess my way of thinkin is I hope to die enjoyin life ( gee,, maybe a
heart attack while ridin a Redhead) rather than bein miserable and
waitin,,,,,,, Filin my retiremennt papers soon, not stoppin but I figured
I'd get
what I can of it and use it for a new truck payment,,, the new bikes are too
modern for me :-)</HTML>
