Head Cleaning / ValvesFrom: "Bob Colombie" <bcolombie_700@comcast.net> Next Article (by Date): Battery ZMLOH@aol.com Well, I've got the top end pulled apart and the cylinders ready to ship out to NRHS. Unfortunately, a head job is not in the budget right now. The bike never really seemed to burn oil or blow smoke. Should I at least have the valve seals replaced? The outer surface of the heads could use a little cleaning and brightening up of the aluminum. What precautions should I take when cleaning? I don't want to damage the valve seals with an aluminum spray cleaner. Is Simple Green a good alternative. Is it okay to rinse heads with water with the valves in place? Oiling up afterwards. When looking for the rocker box gaskets and cam cover gaskets in J&P and V-Twin, I don't see the o-rings for my tappets block bolts. I'm pulling the cam cover because I think it may be leaking a little. Does anyone have the OEM number for these. I don't have the H-D part number manual. BC '89 883+ (soon to be 1200) 40k miles So.
