 I added a 4" riser to the bars and I have the
front pegs.  But I still get back aches when riding anymore than say 10
miles.  The thought of driving from Omaha to Lincoln which is about 60
miles, would just kill me.  Any thoughts as to what seat or back rest or
combination might help.

If your back hurts in ten miles on the bike you have a real problem.
Look at your posture on the bike. Are you slouching forward to reach the
bars ? Is your backed arched outwards away from your stomach ? Shoulders
rolled it a lot ? If so, a back rest and cushier saddle aren't going to
do much good. It takes some muscle development to ride  bike a distance,
your core muscles in your abdomen have to be able to support you in a
new position. A too soft saddle makes your muscles have to work harder.
But the real problem may be how your cockpit is laid out. You should be
very comfy with your hands on the controls. Take the TV out in the
garage and watch the tube for an hour in riding position. A slight bent
forward position will help fight the wind blast, but a lot of bend plus
forward controls  puts you into the clothespin position which is
guaranteed to make you cry over long distances. Evey notice how the
riders with forward controls and drag bars are riding one handed all the
time? There is a reason why. Some riders like to have the cockpit small
enough that you can arch you back inwards and rest your back against a
backrest or sleeping bag.  But look at your basic position on the bike
before dropping big bucks on saddles etc.
