Opa's right. Plus, it's not always a direct fit. I bought an Energizer battery
for a savings of $30 over HD OEM, but the battery posts were set back about
1/2", whereas the OEM posts are flush with the side of the battery. I had
to use nuts as spacers, and buy longer machine screws to get it to work,
and then it turned out the problem wasn't even with the battery, but rather
my stator. I still have the original battery in my 2002 bike. The energizer
is sitting on a shelf, basically new, but when the time comes for a new
battery, I'll just go buy an OEM to avoid the fustration. The $30 savings
wasn't worth it.

Matt, unless you are really anti-HD, just go ahead and get one from the
dealer. Realistically there is not a whole lot of savings going off-brand in
this instance. The house brand is pretty good and with care will last you
quite awhile.
