In WI bugs are an issue all summer long, but the worst is in the fall as
summer starts to wane. Riding the back roads I encounter swarm after swarm
of gnats hovering at windshield and helmet height especially around dusk.
One evening I was headed home after a group ride and had to crouch down
below the line of my sport windshield because I was only wearing a 1/2
helmet and wrap around glasses.

Last year a caught a yellow jacket in the face. The only reason I know that
is from the lasting welt from the sting.

Bugs keep the shinny pretty people off cycles and in the mall where it is
safe.
