Last week myself and a few friends had the pleasure of riding throughout
the hill country of Texas. I highly recommend this area. Little traffic
and miles and miles of great roads.

My friends rented Ultra Classics which are basically ElectraGlides or
dressers, well you know what I mean. I usually rent a Harley when we're on
one of our annual MANcations but this year I broke rank and rented a
Kawasaki Concours. Cycle World magazine said that it was the best all
around sport/crusiers in the world. Very comfortable and that it did
everything perfectly. After 600 miles in the saddle I can tell you this,
it ain't so, IMO. The bike sits uncomfortably high (don't ride one if
you're under 6' tall) and the seating position forces you to lean forward
making for a very uncomfortable ride after 1 hour in the saddle. And
amazingly enough, no cruise control!!!

I've always suspected certain cycle magazines to be blatantly bias but
Cycle World takes the cake here. I think they let that sweet 150HP Ninja
engine go to their heads and it caused them to overlook the most important
feature of a sport/crusier........comfort. These bikes are obviously
designed for 90% cruising and 10% around town riding. I say that because
there's just no way you make a good sport bike out of a 650 pound
motorcycle.
