2005 XLH 883 Low |
Last Updated: 2008-05-12 |
| DESCRIPTION: My Sporty is a 2005 XL883L Sportster in Chopper Blue. Since I purchased it, there have been many modifications. Starting with Chromed switch housings and Diamond Plate grips over fully chromed forward controls with matching diamond plate footpegs & shifter. HD Layback License Plate Holder,Solo Rack & HD B/S timer & derby covers. To light the way, the stock light had to go and I installed a Custom 5" chromed bottom-mounted dome light from CustomChrome and a pair of 2" halogen driving lights were wired to a switch housing. Blue Hyper LEDs look great at night too. A Simota Big Bore Intake and having the stock pipes honed out and custom baffled for more power and sound, together with the CV carburator rejetting and Dyno tuned by Rob's Dyno Service of Gardner, Mass. has poriduced 58.74hp + 53.56 ftlbs of torque. Not bad for an 883. I painted the chain guard, battery and oil covers to match the bike. I've had several seats on it to see which is the most comfortable. From the stock 883L, to the Standard 883 with no success. Then the special ordered Corbin Hollywood was too stiff for long hauls. Finally the Brawler seat was the perfect seat for me. I sold the others on eBay. I installed a tool bag under the speedometer and a classic horn was installed in liew of the cowbell on the left side of the engine. In all, it gets a lot of attention and I've gotten a lot of compliments. Your comments are welcomed. Thanks for looking!
PS: I'll post newer photos soon!
The link below has videos of both our bikes on the dyno among other videos. Also check out my other posts for more photos.

2004 XLH |
Last Updated: 2008-02-15 |
| DESCRIPTION: Here are a couple of shots of my wife's 2004 XL883 Sportster. Since we purchased it, it has received many extras. To start, the peanut tank was replaced with a 4.5Gal tank, then came the custom seat, big horn,Skull derby and points covers,Skull handlebar grips, Screamin' Eagle pipes and chromed hypercharger, removeable sissy bar & rack, chrome swingarm & beltguard, oem chromed spoked wheels & pulley, chrome side covers and front fender, mini floorboards for the back rider and Iso footpegs with stirrups for the front. A sport windshield and auxilliary halogen lights dress up the front. I also installed 40 blue LED pods and the Infinity Streamliner cover for the Kuryakyn Hypercharger. This bike has been re-jetted and dyno-tuned by Rob's Dyno Service (harley taxes paid baby!). With just over 10,000 miles on it, it has been a great ride!

2006 XLH |
Last Updated: 2007-11-28 |
| DESCRIPTION: While vacationing in Puerto Rico, I encountered several mounted policemen. Most were riding around in Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha Police cruisers; maybe only a handful of HD Baggers as pictured. I was so happy to see a Harley in Old San Juan, a Sportster to boost! From what I can tell from the photo I took of it, it seems to be a 2006 XL883. The tank graphics look to be of that year, and it is not a fuel injected model, so it's not a 2007. HD Add ons are the windshield, crash bar and hard saddlebags; otherwise pretty much stock plus the needed police equipment. Sounded nice when he passed by a while later. If you ever have a layover flight, or a cruise ship stop in San Juan, check out the MotorSport Harley Davidson Store across from the cruise ship terminal and the dealer in the town of Guaynabo, just south of Metro San Juan. Very friendly people. Enjoy!
